7th Grade Girls Basketball vs. Lyon County
7/22/2009 10:00:00 AM Away directions
score: 38 opponent's score: 6 result: Win
The Lady Waves dominated Lyon County 38-6 today to wrap up their official play at Transylvania this summer. The Lady Waves played a scrimmage against Rowan County later in the day (winning 60-2). The victory against Lyon County was impressive from the start. Coach Saylor was pleased with the week's work- "That was a fitting end to a fantastic camp. We won all five games we played against official teams and we won both scrimmages that we played. More important to me than winning was the way the girls handled themselves on and off the court. On it they were absolutely amazing. They played outstanding defense, rebounded well and did well enough in transition and on offense to easily win every game. Off it they were even more impressive. All ten girls were respectful, polite, on time and a sheer joy to be around. Camp was a great experience for me; I hope the girls enjoyed it as well. I think this is going to be a very special season, I know this is a special group of girls."

7th Grade Girls Basketball vs. Bernheim
7/21/2009 1:15:00 PM Away directions
score: 41 opponent's score: 11 result: Win
The Lady Waves destroyed a very solid team from Bernheim today 41-11. The margin of victory was a surprise; however if the Lady Waves can continue to play defense like this all year they could be very difficult to beat. Coach Saylor was impressed- "I mean we just get after you. I love it. The girls are playing the passing lanes better, we are rotating in help, we are starting to talk. I think we might be better defensively this year than we were last year, and that is saying something. I also loved how balanced we were. Every girl got at least two rebounds and one steal. Eight girls scored, most had assists. It was a great team victory. I promise you that was a capable Bernheim team. Our pressure was just too much for them."

7th Grade Girls Basketball vs. Henry County
7/21/2009 9:30:00 AM Away directions
score: 60 opponent's score: 16 result: Win
Morgan Turner dominated one of the better post players at camp today. She was very strong. Addi Lynch got hot from the floor, Kristin Peters, Marty Mattingly and Riley Wilson played solid all around games and Kelsey Sutton proved to be an absolute beast on defense. The Lady Waves were simply too good for Henry County winning easily 60-16. With players like Elissa Youart and Madeline Tabor subbing in, the Lady Waves just kept rolling. The team's depth continued to be a pleasant surprise for Coach Saylor.

7th Grade Girls Basketball vs. Grayson County
7/20/2009 9:30:00 PM Away directions
score: 49 opponent's score: 9 result: Win
The Lady Waves opened the season with an impressive victory over regional rival Grayson County 49-9. Coach Saylor had this to say- "I thought we played very well. I got a lot of answers today. We are going to be a great defensive team. Kelsey Sutton played awesome. Morgan Turner, Kristin Peters and Addi Lynch played well. I think we are going to get big contributions from Riley Wilson, Elissa Youart and Kasey Mielke this year as well. I am very excited about today. We exceeded my expectations."

7th Grade Girls Basketball vs. St. Romuald
7/20/2009 6:00:00 PM Away directions
score: 29 opponent's score: 16 result: Win
This game had a playoff atmosphere from the tip. It was obvious to any viewer that this was personal. Coach Saylor was not pleased early- "We let our emotions get to us. We were trying to force the issue, rather than just play the game. From talking to the girls there is some history with St. Romuald. I think they were simply trying too hard. It was a two point game at half time. In the second half we settled down a bit and were able to pull away. I have said that I don't have a point guard on this team. Today proved me correct. I have three of them. Kelsey Sutton, Kristin Peters and Addi Lynch controlled the game. They were all superb. I am very proud of them. That was a very good St. Romuald team. This was a great victory for early season play."
